1999 Explorer xls
I bought the explorer last august and just finished putting it back together.
Took it for a ride tonight and it didn't seem to be shifting out of first.
Abs light is on , and o/d light is blinking.
I should still have the first 3 gears ......
Curious if a filter change will help.
It's got 140000 miles

Help

The OD light blinking means there is a transmission fault, not that there's a problem with the overdrive. A filter change is unlikely to fix it. What did you put back together on it, and why was it apart?

It needed plenum gaskets, shackles ,starter , pads rotors , ebrake cable , brake line ,tires
Steering column, pats module , main brain,
Multi function switch , and that's just the things I can remember

Did it drive correctly before addresssing all these problems? And lights on besides the flashing OD?

Was parked for 2 years before I bought it ( my old boss sold it to me ) he claimed everything was fine, figured differently after I started working on it.

I never got to drive or hear it run before I bought it .
I do know he was commuting with it before he parked it.
My check engine light is on, will that give me a clue.
I've always had Chevy products, first ford

I'd check the codes, but they are for the motor and emissions system. The OD light codes will point you in the right direction for the transmission.

Pulled some codes , but don't have time at the moment to post them .
I will soon
