Transmission not shifting

today driving to work, i was stopped at a light and then drove on and it never shifted out of first gear, went up to 3500-4000 rpm and still didnt shift. id did finially shift after stepping on and off gas pedal. any reason for this? fluid level? its been about 56k miles since last tranny fluid change, maybe clogged filter?

could be the throttle position sensor is gone. did it shift thru each gear with a pedal release?

It could be a clogged filter, sticking spool in the valve body, or possibly a servo/band problem.

nope didnt go through all the gears, just let the rpms down and as i stepped on it again it did eventually shift into 1st. on the way home from work i didnt have any problems shifting.
