99 Ford Explorer Sport Liftgate Interchange

What year liftgates would interchange with the one on my vehicle? Would 4 door liftgates also work? Is wiring generally the same?

Mine has privacy glass with a rear wiper, but I'm not sure what is meant by "with or without lower moulding". Mine has rust in back of the key cylinder so that when you depress the window button, it just pushes in and gives way. It's also rusted around the latch assembly. It does have a plastic trim piece with the ford emblem in the middle that mostly covers the rust now.

I don't think it's an easy fix, so I trying to hunt down a used (red) one. Any ideas? I'm in Baltimore, MD.

98-01 4 door, and s door gates will fit your truck. as for if the wiring is the same, that i cant say for 100%.
lower molding is the plastic trim that goes around the very bottom edge of your gate.
if you find a gate, you will want some help putting it on. they are far from light

I'm starting to look for one for my 98 Mountaineer. I have just a hint of rust along the bottom body seam of my hatch.

Will any of the later 03-05 Sport hatches work on the 98-01 4drs? I also want the wiper on the glass, so those hatches would save me filling the wiper holes. Is the shape of the main shell the same, because the trim etc, can be changed? Those Sport tail lights are different, but did the hatch change also for those?

a 01-03 sport will fit (thats what i have on my 98 right now), BUT there is no hole for the wiper motor, or the thingy that holds the blade while in park. there will also be a few holes in it from the molding that is in the center of the gate

Thanks, good, but how many holes are in the newer hatch to fill? I've got the 03-05 hatch glass already, and the wiring if I needed it.
