99 Ford Explorer Sport

Hi Everyone,
I need some help with a part question please. I have a 99 Ford Explorer Sport. I bought a new rack and pinion and when I went to install it, I noticed that the one I took off the car had threads and the one I was given didn't. The place where I bought it told me that the one without threads is for the two door (which I have) and the one with threads is for a four door. I kept telling them that I have a two door and the one that I took off the car has threads. Anyways to make a long story short, they are standing by their story that my car has been running on the incorrect part for the past couple of years. Can someone please tell me if they're right? Thanks

i don't have a Sport so i don't know which is correct. check around at different stores or on-line. if it's incorrect, return it where you bought it and buy the correct one at a different store. where did you get it?

edit: i looked on RockAuto and the 2DR and 4DR models do us different racks. i can't tell where the "threads" are you're referring to from their pictures. maybe you can.
