My 99 mounty with 231k miles is starting to idle rough. Not like trying to keep running but it just is shaking the whole car. Any guesses at what is making it do this?

maf tps o2 sensors iacv coils could be anything

Dang thAts a lot of abbreviations. Lol but thanks for the reply bud.

4.0ohv motor?

MAF- Mass air flow sensor (Could need a major cleaning)
TPS- Throttle position sensor(These go out and sometimes need adjusting)
IACV- Idle air control valve-(Clean this if your mounty has it, it might help)
I also am going to put in the possibility of the motor mounts, or transmission mounts.

I got the 5.0. And thanks man, any way you could tell me how to check these things to see which of them it could be?

The MAF, will be coming off the throttle body a ways, (near the front left side of engine bay I think...)
Just go to auto zone or some auto parts store and get a can of that MAF cleaner, than follow the directions.
As for the TPS, that would just have to be replaced if it was faulty. They are 60 bucks on the internet.
As for the IACV, you will need to remove it from the throttle body, (Right below the manifold,) and carefully clean it. If it is covered in carbon it might of needed to be cleaned.
But the thing you need to rule out first is the throttle body, if it is dirty...231k miles does a lot to the throttle body:)
To clean the throttle body, remove the large vacuum tube that goes from the Throttle body TO the MAF, and look inside it. If you get a flashlight and look into the throttle body, turn the butterfly valves, or throttle plates, whatever they are called and see if there is any carbon build-up on them. If there is, simply, but carefully, wipe it off with a clean rag with some cleaner on it.
Search for DIY for all of the stuff I just mentioned here on SE.
Could an expert in the field join this dilemma?
