First of all HI all glad to be here.
I have a 99 ranger 4x4 super cab 4dr with the check engine light on and the codes are PO171 and PO174 which I have found out to be System too lean for PCM to Correct. What is involved to correct this is there an adjustment or is the PCM bad.. any help would greatly be appreceated.

I would check for any vacuum leaks or unmetered air leaks first. A fairly common leaker is the rubber elbow for the PCV system. Intake gaskets also leak as the miles go up. Another possible cause for those two codes is tired oxygen sensors.

thanks

Ok I can check the rubber elbow for the PCV system, but how do I check the Intake gaskets and can I just add a can of red bull for the tired oxygen sensors?

Do you know of a link to see where the sensors are located or is there a better manual for the Ranger? So I can stop asking stupid questions:monkey:

If you don't already have one, I would get a Haynes or Chiltons book.
