I used to have cold start problems probably a year ago, but those went away. My sis is driving the truck now and it would not idle the other night when she was leaving my place (no idle in any gear). It started a few times for her but died immediately, would not stay running without giving it gas. I went out and basically floored it while turning over and it fired up, revved the **** out of it 3-4 times and it ran fine after that.

Same thing for her tonight when she was leaving work, would not stay running after started without giving it gas. She finally got it going, backed up, and went to pull out of the parking lot (in D) and it died on her again. I went down there and did the same thing, revving it up alot and it is running now and she made it home without dying again.

I did clean the IAC, but that was probably 1 1/2 years ago when I completely tuned it up. The only thing I can think of is the fuel filter, which I do not belive has ever been changed. I could not for the life of me get the quick disconnect (with plastic disconnect tools) to work and get the fuel filter off. My dad and cousin tried also and neither of them could get it off either. I am going to try and change the fuel filter again tomorrow, and if i cannot get it I will take it to a local shop and have them change it which i hate to do but no choice here, 105k on a stock filter cannot be good.

Does anyone have any other trouble shooting ideas for me tomorrow when I get at the fuel filter? I will probably clean the IAC again while I am at it. What else should I check?

Thanks

IAC valve, intake manifold gaskets (upper & lower)... be my guesses.

Is there any way to check the intake gaskets without pulling the intake?

pressure test it

Could try spraying starter fluid (or similar) where the gaskets are... see if the engine revs up or not. I've heard of people using propane gas for the same.
