'99 Tranny Prob?

My '99 Explorer (V6 auto w/od, 60K) has started to slip between 3rd and 4th.
Not real bad yet and seems like not all the time. No problems with any other
gears or with the od. Any ideas on what and how much I might be looking at for repair

There is a TSB for the 5R55E tranny involving loose valve bodies I believe. Try searching and you should find lots more info.

More specifically

The EPC solenoid cracks the bracket that holds it in and it backs out. The TSB says to replace the EPC solenoid and the bracket with updated versions. The valve body bolts being loose and the gasket blowing out are also common.
