99 XLT 4.0 SOHC transmission

Can the transmission be lowered without removing the drivers side catalytic converter. Truck is on regular jack stands about 18" off the ground. I've got a transmission jack. Bolts on the flange to the exhaust manifold have been heated and soaked with liquid wrench but refuse to budge, trying to avoid breaking them.

Heat and hit them with an impact gun. They’ll likely break—then you can try burning them out with a torch.

Or you can take a sawzall to them.
