Hello everyone, I found this site while looking for solutions to fix many problems I've had with my stock 99 explorer! 4 transmissions! (auto), electrical fire in steering column! etc!!! Now I have this valve knock/ping problem under lite loads that's driving me crazy and I thought you guys probably have an answer. I love the vehicle BUT if I can't get this resolved I will have to look for something else. Thanks for having me, I look forward to exchanging ideas!

whats the oil like? dirty?

I find my Truck runs smoothly with a 10w40 semi synthetic.

With that noise I would pop the oil pan of the bottom take a peek inside. See what you find? its only like 10 x 10mm bolts, then should be able to pop it off with your fingers.
