Towing a few times this summer and when I hit the overdrive-off switch the A/C would basically shut down. The HVAC controls still showed A/C on but the air would be warm and humid. The A/C functioned normally with overdrive enabled.

Is there some kind of thermal over-ride or should I bring the truck into the shop? I have a few months left on my aftermarket warranty. Truck is an '06 V6 AWD Mountaineer.

No ones has input on this issue?

Is it possible that the a/c compressor is shutting off due to the higher RPM? What if while in "O/D OFF", you turn the HVAC system "OFF", then turn back "ON"? Maybe it would re-engage.

Didn't think they compressor clutch had a "high-limit." I was only doing 65mph so the engine was just about 3,000 rpm. I'll try this next week coming home with the boat.

I can say with certainty that my 2006 V6 Does not cut out the AC compressor under similar conditions. Perhaps it is designed to cut out under wide open throttle, but that is not what you are describing
