I just got back from the auto shop and they're telling me I got the black death! I have a 92 4.0. Everything runs great but the a/c doesn't blow cold. They are telling me I need to replace the complete system. I did a little check on the web about "Black Death" http://www.airpronet.com/blackdeath.htm and Dead Link Removed
The shops telling me I'm in for about 1500 big ones. I'm thinking take the compressor off a 95-99 and replace all the a/c parts to fit the newer compressor. Changing from the R12 type system to the R134A system. Does anyone know about the motor compatability between a 92 4.0 and say a 98 4.0? Or am I going about this all wrong?
