My orifice tube is coated in black flakes and a search on here yelded that it is a condition called black death that pretty much requires replacing all the major parts of the A/C system. So with that info.

My plan is to hit up a Pull-a-part yard and get swap out The A/C from a vehicle on the yard. My question is/are:
1) Will A/C parts for a SOHC fit a OHV?
2) Are all years 95-2001 interchangeable?
3) What do I need to check for to ensure I get a good usable system?

Thanks.

Check for black death on used parts too...

Look for the orifice tube and how clean it is or is not...Look for any leaks at hoses or in condensors or the accumulator...A leak with a dirt buildup will have usually run low on oil and there will be some melting of the teflon rings in the system...

You should not try to reuse a condensor thanks to the inability to remove the debris inside of it...You will never get all the garbage that might be inside the tubes out...

Personally if I had this problem i would get a new accumulator, condensor, hoses , orifice tube, and orings, and either a new or rebuilt compressor...The a/c system is not an area to try to save money on cheap parts that already have lots of wear on them...

Understand the point on skimping on cost here. However to replace all the necessary parts to fix this is a hefty fee.
