Hey guys,
I seem to be loosing A/c air flow thru the vents on long hills with medium throttle. As soon as Im over the hill the air comes rushing back. Im assuming that I have a vacumm leak. Ive checked all the lines under the hood and everything seems to be OK. Was thinking that it could be that blend door and was wondering if it is vacumm operated.

thanks

On my 02 the blend door for the dash vents is vacuum controled. Have you checked the lines in the interior? look at the passenger side where the lines come through the firewall. On the 02 you can squeeze the glove box sides in a little, and the glove box hinges down forward, so you can get a better look.

gotcha, I'll take a peek and see whats up.

Looks like a great call. I got the glove box down and heared it hiss while changing A/c control positions. The new door is $60 from ford. I think I'll let my mechanic fix it.

Thanks

I just got my truck back. The fix was $500. Six and a half hours labor. All I had to pay was the $50 deductible. Extended warrantys ROCK!

I too had the blend door done under an extended warranty.
Ford billed them $750 to install the $49 part.

Im loving mine. I'll never buy used again without one.

Yeah Ive had them on my last 3 vehicles and all 3 paid for them selves.
In addition to the blend door, a month later I had the front pump seal on the trans done.. $7 seal, and over $700 labor (trans and transfer case had to some out)
Afterwards when I picked it up, it would not shift into park, they broke the shifter cable while re-installing the transmission - $400! but all covered.

Now If only I could get them to cover by ball joints. The boots are virtually gone.. but there is no play in the joint so they wont cover them.

Hang in there, there's still time!
You hit on the main reason I bought mine. That first 36k goes real fast on a car. Nearly all go without a major fix. Ive found that between 36k and 60k is when things can happen.
When I bought mine I figured that I would get a leak or two in the three years I signed up for, pluse If the trans. let go, I would be way ahead.
