Quick question, every once in a while when I start my explorer, especially if I have been driving it a while or it is really hot outside, it takes a minute or two for my a/c blower to start up. In other words, nothing comes out of the vents for a minute. It has only happened a couple of times. My question, is this some type of short, a computer glitch, or is this normal.

Thanks

Mike

Well, I wouldn't say that it is normal, but I don't think that it is a short. I know on my old Ranger, sometimes the A/C blower wouldn't come on until I got out and beat it with my fist. Simple solution: the motor was old and sometimes got stuck. Sometimes I would be lazy and leave it be and the first real bump I hit jarred it enough for it to work. Once it started, it would go on with no trouble. That's what convinced me that it wasn't a short, just an old motor. This could be the problem you are having with yours. When does it usually decide to start working, right after you hit a bump in the road?? Maybe try replacing the blower motor. Hope this helps.

Mine does start blowing right away, but in the beginning it blows only hot air that smells strange. Esåessialy if I've been driving for a while, and stopped, and then after a little while starts up again. Is this normal? I've never had a car/truck with A/C at all, so I really don't know how it's supposed to work..
Another thing, it seems to use A/C even if I don't turn the switch to A/C or MAX A/C... Is there really no way to turn it off at all, and just use normal air from outside? Doesn't the truck use more gas when it's on?

thanks for your replies

Thanks to all who have replied. I think I'll just wait and see if it gets worse and if it does, replace the blower motor. Doesn't sound too terrible.

thanks again,

Mike
