A/C chargin issues

Alright, so a few months ago i wrecked my X into a tree. Replaced radiator, but the A/C condensor still held pressure, and i didnt want to pay for a new one, so i kept it. i still had to remove it, and thus discharge the system. i got one of those recharge kits to charge it up with, but it won't charge. if i put coolant in it, it goes up to a good pressure and won't hold any more. i was hoping the compressor would turn on and make room for more, but it isn't happening. any suggestions?

while charging a system without evacuating it first is not a good idea.... if you get system pressure of over 25 PSI in it and the compressor will not run, your low pressure cutout may be bad.... anything over 25PSI should be enough to allow the compressor to run.

Gee I guess it is getting to be that time of the year again!
