A/c Clutch or compressor?

Every time i turned on my a/c my compressor would make a loud grinding noise, shoot out sparks from around the pulley, and stall out my xlt. is this a binding compressor or just a bad clutch?

Sounds like the compressor is locked up to me, If it were the clutch, then I would think it would not stall out the engine and it would just try to turn the compressor. Stalling the engine says something is not wanting to turn and that would be the compressor, not the clutch.
