When starting the engine the A/C Compressor in my 92 XLT comes on and goes off immediately three times and does not do anything after that. However a clicking noise is heard somewhere around the power distribution box/air filter box/battery when he compressor stops turning. When I turn the A/C switch off the clicking stops. Is there a relay switch hidden that might be bad?
Please help.

Sounds like you are out of coolant. Once it's gone, the low pressure switch shuts the compressor off. Have your pressure checked. If it is still there, then the switch may be bad. If there is little or no pressure, recharge the system and see what happens.

I have checked the pressure and it's actually on the high side. This switch your refering to, where would I locate it? I can hear it clicking but unable to pinpoint local with the engine running.
Thanks for the response

The cycling switch is located on the accumulator, it's a white looking thing screwed into one of the lines with 2 wires coming off of it by the blower motor.

There might be a relay that's bad. but if it's overcharged then it may be going off on high pressure cutout, which the only real fix is to get it bled down a bit.
