My first message, I have 2000 ford explorer. The A/C is fully charged. I've had it check by two different shops.

The A/C works fine for a few minutes, then it starts blowing warm air. If you turn off the A/C unit and wait few seconds. When I turn it back on, it will work just fine for the another few minutes.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Welcome to this forum! Do you hear the clutch engaging when it is suppose to? Does the clutch stay engaged if you bypass the low pressure cut off switch during testing? If it stays on with a jumper wire, then it could be a faulty low pressure cut off switch. The next step is to check the blend door if it's not the low pressure cut off switch. There are many threads on this subject. I have several links in my list of useful threads.

a/c problem

Maybe you have some moisture in your refrigerant system. :us::salute::us: USA is the GREATEST

I'm wondering if you aren't freezing something up. This shouldn't be that hard to find. A shop that is good at diagnosing...and not just servicing...should get to this. (Too many shops can only handle the "gravy" and have no idea how to actually repair a climate control system) When it's blowing warm air, have them start looking for why. Is the clutch engaged? What are your gauge readings? What is the temp on the low side of the orifice tube? The temp of the evap? Do you have the proper refrigerant in the system? (Lots of junk blends out there) A little common sense should guide you in the right direction since you do get cold air at some point. Don't be surprised if the first thing they want to do is completely evac and charge the thing with the proper refrigerant to the proper amount so they have a known starting point.
