My A/C will run fine for a while then seems to cut off for a few seconds and then comes back on. It does this a lot. Any suggestions?

Im not sure but maybe your running to many things at once and the car cuts the a/c out not to over load the system so it cuts out things that arent necessary ? happend in my friend accura the a/c would go out the radio would go off just so the car could continue to run

It sounds like your a/c system is short cycling the compresser kicks on for a few seconds then kicks off. check for loose connections and if all seems well you might need a charge. a sensor is probably picking up that the charge is low and cuts the compressor out so it wont burn it up.

Explorers use a "fixed orifice system" and control against evaporator freeze up by cycling the compressor (unlike the TXV - thermal expansion valve system, which uses a valve to control refrigerant flow based on temperatures. The Explorer system will cut off the compressor when the low side pressure reaches a low of 27-25 psi. Once it's off, the high side (usually 250 psi or higher) will cross leak and raise the low side. Once the low comes up and hits about 40 psi, the compressor clutch gets switched back on and the compressor kicks back in. So the system IS designed to cycle. Fast cycling in warmer temperatures are usually a sign of a low charge on the system. Have the charge checked. I'm pretty sure that is your problem.
