Okay I did a no no years ago and did a cheep r12 to r 134 change over. It worked for over 4 years but now I have no air. This happened over the last two years with it slowly getting warmer and warmer starting at idle only to any time in the end.
I now know I did it wrong and I know better now.
any hoot I just tried to recharge it after replacing the accumulator and the orifice (yes I know I should have flushed but I did not thinking if I could get a year or two that’s all I needed) well after adding the accumulator and orifice then changing the o rings on the compressor manifold and any of the pipe joints I opened it will not hold any charge or vac at all.
I do have gages and did take a reading before starting all of this and this and they were

Static
Low= 50 psi
High = 50 psi

Running

Low = 27 and 47 psi (points of compressor kick in and out)
High = 120 psi and dropped to 50 as compressor kicked in and out

After repairs static 60 each then bleed off with in 5 mints.
Run 150 high
Low 26 and 50 psi also dropped to 0 after 5 mints.
Can not find any leak at all or traces of one!
Were is the most leak prone area on a 93 explorer?
How easy is it to flush a system with out any special tools but an air compressor (small 5 gal tank one) and a air gun?
would I be better to just forget it being I can not spend over $100.00 more into fixing it over what I have already spend
Bought already
Gages
r134
Pag 46 oil
O rings
Elec. vac pump
Accumulator and orifice (blue)

so best Ideas and or tell me to just forget it all things welcomed
thanks ahead of time for your time. o ya if any one is in the Fresno area and can help me find the leaks your welcome to do so:D!

Have you tried the flourecent dye and a black light? This is the only way I could find leaks in any A/C system I have worked on. It makes it really easy to find it, especially if you do it while it's dark out or in a closed garage. Just make sure you don't leave the engine running more than a min or 2 with door closed.

I had not thought of that . I just may have to get one more can of 134 and some die and a black light so I can go tripping as I look for a leak . thanks

It's a gamble, I'd pickup a cheaper can of the lubricating oil just to get enuff pressure in there to kick the compressor on. In all likelyhood you will blow a can out and @$20 per can it can add up. They also have special colored glasses you can use, but if it's dark enuff you will be golden. You can pickup those handheld blacklight flashlights for like $15 at walmart, or you used to about 5 years ago.

well having it dark enough here is no problem as I live were there is no street lights at all . now black light flash light thingys never heard or seen them so will look around. was also thinking of trying some stop leak stuff to also try and find the leak incase it would in fact seal it up also. hey who knows maybe I could get lucky for once workign on this truck. if it did not work well I may have to be replacing parts any way so what harm could it do.
