A/C HELP

My A/C has been not working for some time now and so I recharged it. The problem is that it works when its not to hot but when its hot it blows warm air. When I'm driveing and I have it off air still comes out of the vent, could this have something to do with the problem? Thanks for the help.

You describe a system with a leak. You can charge it, but the freon/r134(or whatever its called) leaks until the pressure drops to the point the leak seals itself. Take it to a mechanic (not dealer) who can charge the system with dye and find a leak. You could also have air trapped in the system, charging won't fix that. An air conditioner place will have the equipment to properly remove the air and recharge it.

Both my explorer 92 and my dad's 93 had condenser aka compressor go bad. trucks would take a charge and leak out. If it is the compressor, you should be able to find a new one on Ebay. I paid $197 for a Ford Factory compressor - not rebuilt. My dad paid $400 from the dealer.
