Explorer 04, Eddie Bauer
Hello All,

I have the following issue. I have a 2004 Explorer, Eddie Bauer, 4.0L. I noticed that a few month ago I started hearing a chirp every once and a while. It seemed to happened at all times, after I started the car, when I was driving, and when I was on the FWY. I took it to my dealer and they told me it was my AC. I had been running my AC alot this year because of the summer heat. I decide to not run the AC for a while and the chirping stopped. My question is, what would cause the AC to suddenly start chirping? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks:exp:

belt slipping?

It could be your serpentine belt slipping when the A/C compressor clutch engages? Or, the A/C compressor electric clutch itself could be making the noise from slipping a little when engaging. You may want to check your serpentine belt tensioner to see if it indicates the belt has stretched/worn excessively.

Thanks for your replies, I assume by refrigerant oil you mean Freon? The answer is no, but bother- in- law sugested it? I would be surprised if that fixed it but maybe. I'm going to try it.
