Okay, okay. I know, very bad manners to come to a board for the very first time firing off questions without first "contributing." I have noticed this site's banner on another site I visit quite a few times but just haven't gotten a chance to visit - until now. I'm in a bind so please forgive my lack of netiquette.

The problem is with my '96 Explorer's A/C system. It doesn't blow cold. Actually after it warms up it blows hot air. I recentley replaced a valve on the coolant flow lines and am wondering if I put it back together right. Please look at the picture below and see if it looks like your '96. Any other help would be appreciated also.

Anyone?

I can't tell you if you put it back together right but you may have let the coolant leak out when you were working on it. I know when mine starts to blow warm air I just recharge my A/C system with more coolant.

By the way, you have just found one of the best sites on the web and welcome. Dead Link Removed

Just to clarify, the valve and hoses I was working on were coolant, not Freon hoses. I have to think that either the valve (circled above) was installed incorrectly or that the flap within the blower box is malfunctioning. I say this because there is cold air blowing from the vents untill the truck warms up.

I am leaning towards the valve becuase it was the last thing I did. Can someone please pop the hood on there '96+ Explorer and tell me if their plumbing is hooked up like mine?

kirt, i have replaced this heater control valve on both our explorers in the past month or two. the hoses coming out of the firewall go into the valve, pass. side on top, dr. side on bottom. from there, they exit top hose to the bottom of the engine, bottom hose to the top of the engine. hope this helps!

Thanks. That is what I was looking for. Unfortunately, that isn't what is wrong. Anyone else have any ideas? BTW: drmoore, can you do one other thing for me? See what posistion your valve is in when the A/C is on? Up or down. Thanks! This site is great!

kkirt1, a/c on, valve is in up position, heat on, valve down. does that help? good luck
