Hello all just bought a 2002 Ford explorer XLT off craigslist. The women was really nice had every oil change receipt including a brand new factory installed transmission.
Now a few issues have popped up. My A/C works but doesn't blow any air out of it. The mechanic that inspected the car said there is a shutter door that isnt opening and closing when i turn my ac from the face to feet. please give me some guides that can easily help me disassemble this and fix it.

Do a search for "blend door". There are some fix it ideas from some smart guys. Hope it helps.

ok but also how do i know its the actuator, it still blows ac in the back etc. and dont hear a knocking noise but i hear a constant noise from the defrosters like there running. and its only the front right one

Not sure about the diagnosis, never had that problem. Maybe some of the guys with that experience can help.

The "Blend door" inside the blend door box or unit itself, controls the hot and cold sides of your temp controls. The blend door is rotated from one side to the other by the "blend door actuator" when you select or turn the temp knob from hot to cold. If the Blend door actuator is bad, you will hear a thumping or clunking type of noise coming from behind your dashboard, right in the area of the dash control knobs. If no noise, you might have a vacuum hose that was disconnected somehow from the back of the dashboard vent control knob. This is the far right knob where you select Vents, AC, Heater or Defroster. Since you aren't getting air through your dashboard vents for AC, this may be your problem. If a vacuum line popped off, you would lose the flow of air in that vent it attaches to. There are 5 small, colored vacuum lines that connect to the back of that control knob from what I've read about in here. You can pull that center dashboard trim piece that surrounds the radio and ac vents and control knobs off, it just prys off, no screws. Just use care when removing it. You should be able to see those small vacuum lines on the back side of the vent control knob, see if one hanging off its post. It could have been seperated at another location under the dash as well, try looking behind the glove box area too. You may also have an "air recirculation door" problem. This door works off an actuator and it is located on top of the heater core box and blower motor behind your glove box. When this door falls off of its hinge points, it blocks the flow of air to some of the vents. Mine blocks air to my defroster, but not the AC vents. This one is a big job to repair, I can't do it myself. The blend door actuator fix is do-able. Here is a link to a great post and repair info by "Big Rondo" on the blend door actuator, check it out.\\
