Hey Guys,

my A/C finally died and I am currently looking to get it recharged..maybe even do it myself. I was wondering how much recharging my A/C is going to cost me...I know this one place which will do it for $80...is this a good price...?
Also, how hard is it to recharge the A/C with one of those DIY kits from Wal-Mart??

thanx

The do-it-yourself ket was very simple to use on my '97. I bought my kit from Checker Auto Parts for $30 which included a can refridgerant. I think they had a cheaper kit ($20) but if I remember correctly it didn't have the guage or there was something about it that I didn't like. I figured buy it once for $30 now when I need a re-charge all I have to buy is the $6 can of refridgerant. It took about 15 minutes and 3/4 of the can.

A/C Is Ice Cold!!!!

Do it yourself and SAVE big $$$$

well mine's not that cold, like somewhat cold but not frigid, where do you buy this can your talking about and how do you do it? is it easy?

Mine is definately not ice cold, however I've yet to see an R134A A/C cool as well as the R12 Freon. Being in Phoenix, doesn't help. When it is 110 outside, I have the A/C on MAX, fan on high. After 20 minutes or so I can back the fan down a step, sometimes 2 and be comfortable. The can is just R134A and is sold at any auto parts store, Walmart, K-mart, etc. It comes in a 12oz and 16oz can and is in the automotive section. You will need the necessary hose and fitting to connect it to your A/C line. Kits are available for $20-$30 that include everything you need, including instructions.
