I removed my factory FORD AM/FM headunit and replaced it with a PIONEER 4100. However, when I did this I was unable to get the rear radio controls to work again. In my SPORT I have rear radio controls so the person in the back seat can turn the volume down if they need to say something or change the station if they want. I guess that it is not a real big deal that this function is disconnected, but since I am a perfectionist when it comes to my Explorer I figured that I would do my best to solve this dilemma. I feel that many others must have run into this problem on their trucks too so maybe we could brainstorm ideas in an effort to figure a way for it to work. I just thought that this might give some of us a little "challenge." If you know how I can get this function to work then I would be very greatful. Please help...

I'm not sure if the Pioneer will suuport the rear radio fuctions of your truck. I've got the 4000 and it said nothing in the manual about rear radio controls. It would be sweet if you could get it working, but it'll probably require some custom wiring jobs. I'm only speculating, so if someone knows for sure, speak up...

A company called PAC has something that I think will fix this problem. Their website is http://www.go2pac.com I don't know for sure if this will fix the problem but it is worth checking out.

KeyserSoze could you be a little more specific for me? I went to the website and did not see anything. Could you tell me what I am looking for? Plus that website says that it does not deal to the public. Please give me a little more information so I can pursue this lead...

I found this product which allows sony aftermarket headunits with a remote plug in the back to interface with certain Ford steering wheel and rear steat controls. Dead Link Removed I looked around for a specific match for this application, but didn't see anything. I don't know of any pioneer units that have a remote plug like the sony ones, so I'm not sure how you would have to wire it. You may want to send an email to the sight since they deal with a lot of oem stuff. I have bought stuff from this site before and have never had any problems. Hope this helps a little.

BTW the product on the site listed earlier is here. http://www.go2pac.com/flash1024.html It looks like it may work on any headunit with a wireless remote.

Hey Rydogg, I checked out the site and found what might help you here: http://www.go2pac.com/flash1024.html. Click on the products tab and look at the SWI Factory Steering Wheel Interface. It says it works with steering wheel are rear seat controls. I didn't know there was such a device.
There is a dealer locator and a distrubutor list accessible from their homepage here: http://www.go2pac.com/flash1024.html. The dealer tab allows you to input your zip code and the distributor tab lists all of their distributors. Good luck!

JORGE & STEPHEN S I checked out this web page and it says that the SWI 7 will work on a 1995 Explorer which has me very ineterested. There are two problems though. I did not see a price (for all I know this could be like $300) and second there are no delaers located within 50 miles of my zip code. Thus I am going to have to call this company because I can not get an e-mail to go through (b/c I don't have a DIGITAL ID...whatever that means). So I am going to call them and try to find out a little more about this product. I will let everyone know what I find. I am sure others are wondering about this product as well. If anyone else finds anything out, please post it...thanks!!
