Does anyone know where I can get a head unit install kit for a 2000 explorer that does not have a pocket? Everything I have seen from the different manufactures have a pocket in the install kit. I did see a picture of someones that does not have a pocket so I know they exist.

How do I remove the center trim, I've taken the two screws out of the bottom but couldn't get any further. Is it just stuck in with the plastic pins and have to be pried off like most of the other panels?

Maybe someone has some tips for me. The install kits don't have enough plastic and are too flimsy to screw the head unit sleeve to. And due to the flimsy nature of the metal they're made out of I have never been able to get one secured to the install kit good enough to keep the head unit from vibrating and making noise. Is there any other options I don't know about?

Thanks for any help in advance.

try walmart or local stereo shops, metra and scosche are good

I have a Scosche, I've never seen a scosche without the pocket. I've never been able to find anything on the net without a pocket also. Or one without a pocket that looks decent, the Metra ones I saw looked cheezy to me.

some people here have made their own instal kits

I started to make one out of Walnut, didn't like the way it was turning out. I may have to start again and do a better job. What are some approaches that people have taken making their own?
