Alright well i sort of wanted to keep my stock HU, just because of the controls on the steering wheel. But i understand now it will be much harder to wire up my amp and such with the stock HU. So is there an aftermarket HU that allows me to use my steering wheel controls, or was i wrong and the stock HU wont create problems?

Thanks, but how do i know what HU's i can use with that?

Its my understanding with those that you can use any hu with it, its the vehicle that matters. I think BBQ_HotDogs used something similar to that on his explorer, you could ask him.

I would recomend calling the crutchfield advisor at the number on that link and they can help you out though. They really do have great costumer service people, and they know a ton about all vehicles that they sell stuff for, so they should be able to tell you everything you need to know.

do you guys think its worth it though, 70 bucks plus shipping to still have those controls, im sort of 50/50 on it

Well, its something that you don't have to do right away. Plus, that HU that you are getting comes with a really handy little remote. I hold on to my remote all the time while driving, If I had Steering Wheel controls, I wouldnt use them. I would wait to buy those because you might like the remote so much that you won't use the Controls. And you could always buy that Kit later if you do want to use the controls.

Pioneer has a remote control designed to clip onto your steering wheel, looks pretty good. Other companies may have the same sort of thing.

If you use that Crutchfield adapter I would call them for sure but I think it will work with any HU
