'95 Limited
Hi All! I just bought a '95 Explorer Limited with 138K miles. It's in overall very good condition, but there are a few things I'd like to ask about and hopefully someone can point me in the right direction:
1. The CD changer needs a magazine. Anyone know the part number so I can look on eBay or at a salvage yard?
2. The Electronic Message Center isn't working... totally dark. Is this possibly a fuse?
3. The "O/D Off light" is flashing. What does this mean?
4. Is it "normal" for it to reach @ 3000 rpms before the transmission shifts into 2nd? All other gears shift at @ 2000.
5. The ABS light is on. Presume I should have the brakes checked? They feel and sound fine. Is this maybe a sensor, fuse or relay?
6. The power antenna is snapped off. What's the best (translation: most economical) fix? Do I have to replace it with another power antenna? Or will a fixed mast work?

Thanks for any and all guidance. This is my first Explorer, and so far I really like it.

I just got rid of 99 explorer where the O/D light flashed, it means something mechanical is wrong in trans, check fluid levels and if they are good then take to trans shop. Previous owners of mine tried to adjust the bands and broke off pieces in trans, I got it at 80,000, it started slipping out of second and would not go into third unless let off gas at about 100,000. Ran it like that until got rid of at 226,000 miles.

welcome and that sux bout ur x

Welcome to this forum! You have to get the codes read to determine what is causing the flashing overdrive light, and ABS light. Keep in mind that not every scanner is capable of reading these kind of codes.

Power antenna mast and CD changer magazine you can find cheap on ebay. You have some other serious problems though.

The O/D light is a trans problem. The 3000 RPM shift is not normal. Will it shift earlier if you let your foot off the gas? This could be a broken band or valve body issue. You have to pull some codes.

ABS is likely a wheel speed sensor, you have to also get the trouble codes. You can replace parts but its a guess.

On the transmission thing, it DOES shift at lower rpms when I let off the gas. What does this mean?

If you are going to pull codes, keep in mind that the 95 is OBDI/EECIV. The OBDII port under the dash is a dummy port. After you pull the codes, reset them and see if the OD light stays off. You can also reset the codes by disconnecting the battery for 15 minutes. Also, driving the truck any long distance with the light flashing is not good as it causes hard shifting on the trans as it's in 'limp' mode.
