Alright, so I ended up going with the 3"spindle lift and about 2 maybe 2 1/2" of torsion twist, i measure at 39" in the front with 31's....on to my point....ever since the spindle lift my brakes are all screwed up. LIke right before it makes a complete stop the brake pedal just gives in and makes a weird noise...most people have told me I need extended brake lines, but I wanna make sure that correct, so I don't have to spend the money on something I don't need. We've bled the brake lines twice after the lift, and it's still not going away...and suggestions?

My second question is I also regeared to 4.10's and for about the past week they've been kind of grinding,(after going faster than 40 and letting off the gas). The guy who put them in said his ranger did the same thing, for about 2 weeks, but I'm getting kind of worried....I'm probably going to get the gear oil drained and get some new oil put in. I just bought the friction modifier for my Limited Slip, and to be sure I'm supposed to use the 75w140 synthetic correct? I was just wondering if anyone who has regeared has had this problem.

Then the last question, (sorry it's getting long) I'm planning on doing the SOA in the back to level my car
out, all I need is new perches correct? If I need something else please let me know......Thank You!

When your pedal gives in does it pulsate at all? If so it sounds like your wheel speed sensors are full of grime. They are magnetic and attract metal shavings. The extended brake lines are needed so when you are flexing the downtravel doesn't brake the lines. I'm not sure if you need those or not.

The gears grinding when you let off of the gas may just be the backside of the teeth breaking in. The guy who put in the gears didn't recommend a break in procedure? 75/140 synthetic is what I have always run in my Explorer diffs, with the l/s.
I don't really know the answer to the SOA question, but I'm sure someone will chime in on that.

Yea they pulsate, but how do I fix the speed sensors?

They need to be removed from the "hubs" and cleaned off. Later I will dig out my old 1996 Explorer repair cd and give a more detailed description.

The Abs sensor should be the only electrical connector going down to the knuckle I don't know how it's set up on the 2wd models but on the 4wd models it's held into the bearing assembly with one bolt. Are your brake lines tight? if so you should definantly get extended lines it's probably a safe idea regardless. As far as springing over the axle you need to get new perches, have the axle reindexed and have the perches welded on. you may or may not need to get your rear driveshaft lengthened. In a 4dr with the pinion rotated up i'd say you wouldnt need a new DS.

I just noticed that when it the brake starts being stupid it pulls my steering wheel to the left about 1inch....the brake lines look like they have enough slack because they rerouted them. I honestly don't think I need extended brake lines because I don't go on trails and never flex my car....I only go to the dunes, and thats like 3 or 4 times a year. So I'm going to get my oil changed and the gear fluid flushed and add the friction modifier so maybe the gears will stop grinding. I'll have them check out my brake lines and maybe have them bled them again. Thanks a lot guys!!

if you jump your truck or take it off road at all you really should get extended lines if the lines are taught at full droop. I'd really get that grinding checked out.. that can't be good.

after you regear is your car supposed to be as quite as it was before??because my brother thinks its normal....

While I havent regeared (yet) I have never heard of any one saying they heard a grinding noise when coasting. I suppose it's possible if the gears weren't broken in properly you could be having issues but im not really sure. hopefully someone who is more familiar with regearing will chime in.

it's not grinding anymore its more of just a humming noise now, I got the gear oil changed today and they let me go into the bay and watch the fluid comming out, there were like little metal flakes in there...it almost looked like glitter....umm I just noticed that when my brakes start to act up my headlights and fog lights dim, maybe I'm looking at this the wrong way and it's electrical??

Did your guages start acting funny? Usually when the headlights & foglights start dimming, its a sign of trouble. There was metal flakes coming out of your rear diffy.. That ain't good..

Nothing on the gauges lit up like the abs light or anything! I'm going insane and I don't wanna take it to some mechanic so he can charge my $30/per hour to scratch his a** all day...lol =) I need to narrow it down.

Just get the battery checked to make sure its getting a full charge.. You can also test the alternator by pulling the negative terminal off the battery.. If it stalls, you got a bad alternator, if it doesn't, your still safe.. Just make sure you don't take it off for too long otherwise you'll do damage.

whats the battery got anything to do with it?

You said your headlights and fog lights dim..

but only when the brakes act weird....other then that my lights were fine before

Its normal for you lights to dim. Your ABS is kicking on, and that uses a whole lot of power. I haven't been able to find my old Explorer repair cd, I will look when I get off work this afternoon.

Oh, and I think thats normal, she had recently regeared, and I think anytime they break in gears they change the oil shortly after because of the metal contamination.

I read on a different forum about the whinning of my gears and how it isn't normal, so now I'm starting to trip out. I'm thinking about calling 4wheelparts and asking them what kind of warranty is on the gears.
