A truck first-timer

Hi there,

I´m new to the board and just wanted to greet you all. I just bought a ´95 XLT Explorer (has all the options though, EB skirts etc)

This is my first truck and I´ve been reading as much as possible on these boards about the Explorer, great info here. My previous vehicles have all been low, clad in leather and turbocharged (Volvo fan) It´s a nice change to be on a vehicle with 32" wheels.

It has ~150k miles on it, the engine has been rebuilt, as well as the tranny (both about 18k miles ago). It has a new fuel pump and power steering pump. Which were all replaced by the previous owner very recently.

Since 70k miles this car has been very well taken care of, K&N air filter, Mobil 1 oil and such. Which is one of the main reasons I bought this particular vehicle.

So, anything else that is prone to fail in the ´95 XLT that I need to be wary about? I would love some comments from the Explorer old-timers :D

EDIT: Jeep replaced by truck by popular demand, hahaha! :) Will post a piccie later today...

Congrats on the purchase, although you will learn really fast to not call your Explorer a Jeep around these parts :p

A Jeep!!!! :nono: These aint no stinkin jeeps lol. Welcome to the site. Remeber always use the search function before you make a post.

haha,

I actually paused when writing that - but then I decided to go with it. :)

Jeppi, all 4x4´s (of course not wagons etc) are called here in Iceland. Jeppi is pretty close to jeep.

ive seen some first gen explorers from iceland...talk about wow. So are you going to be puttin 38 inch tires and drive across the snow fileds?

welcome man! i was wondering why you were calling it a jeep lol!

Nah, baby steps. I´m just crossing from Volvo S80 T6 to the X. But then again, everyone in the family has a 4x4 (whadda heck should I call it if not jeep? :) - and have already been invited to 2 mountain trips in 5 days I´ve had it, heh!

Only have 32" under it - which is smallest in the family come to think of it.

EDIT: And yeah, Icelandic peeps sure know how to lift ´em vehicles. And the most sold car here (new car sales, volume pr. month) is Toyota Landcruiser.

welcome to the forum caaine do you got pics of ur 95 xlt.

could call it a Heep :p just need some 38' dickies and you'll b all set. Welcme to the Board

what kind of suspension has he done to it, or is it all just trimming. THose 32" look factory lol

I think the suspension is stock, shocks and struts, except for the added air adjustable suspension. I.e. I can adjust the ride with pumping in air or relieving it. I like it because it makes my explorer look even, not with a saggin rear like most of the ones I´ve seen here in Iceland that have grown old.
