A modification to save gas and breathe smokeless air on long hills.

Thanks,CDW! I,too, do not like not having total control over my MVAC.My Lincoln LSes are chief offenders in this regard, engaging the AC anytime the computer decides it....I'm not kidding. After this mod, they are nexft in line. I appreciate your help. don-ohio

Had a little time today,so I started on this mod. of AC clutch cut-out switch. My radio has no AM, so I pulled it also and found the antenna wire is okay.
I also took off the cowling to inspect the wiper motor system and components. Those little cowling clips all broke. I have never seen new ones like it, so I'll probably just use screws to fasten it back.
I found a perfect place beneath the accelerator cable grommet to bring the wires in, and I figure to put the switch in the center dash cover. I drilled the hole for the wires and will install a grommet and bring the wires thru tomorrow.

Got her done today! Works great! Just intercepted the 12V wire after it joins up with I suppose, the defrost signal wire. The switch cuts power and the AC clutch disengages, even in defrost, which I also like bein g able to blow hot air on the windshield now without the AC feature. Don't always need that feature.
I left a male and female spade clip at the compressor in case the switch malfunctions . I can just plug it back in like it was before.
Drilled a 3/4 inch hole below the rear wipe control and it looks great! don-ohio

It's a round rocker switch,Brooklyn and it blends right into the dash. It has a blue eye, but it doesn't illuminate. I have 5 of these, and they are rated at 20 amps.
I don't know about pics, but I may get time to try or have my wife try. I am getting everything ready to return in gthe Aerostar to Ohio. Been pretty busy lately. Thanks. don-ohio
