my 94 explerer has 167700 mils on it and it has just started to give me some un usual problems. i replaced the transfer case motor but the 4x4 wont engage i also have code number 543 (fuel pump circut open) 176 (02 sensor lean) and 177 (02 sensor rich) i need some mental assistance especially with code 543 PLEASE HELP

I haven't come across those particular codes, but if you bring them to AutoZone they could give you a printout of how to troubleshoot (detailed to voltages to check on each wire, etc.). Someone here will probably have some good pointers as well.

As for your 4x4 problems, after you replaced the t-case motor, are your indicator lights working correctly? If not, you need to fix that first. It's either electrical, you got a bad replacement part, or there's something going on with the control module.

If the lights are working correctly, and you can hear the t-case engaging, the most likely culprits are u-joints, hubs or differential (typically in that order). Do some searching on this site for specifics on how to troubleshoot.

Good luck, keep us posted!

Mike

on the t case i snipped and spliced the brown wire that goes into the case so could that be it be cause it it a dead system however the last position the computer seen was in between 4h and 4L is this a another factor? as far as the codes i went to auto zone and looked up the codes my self and diagnosed them myself an the account that i have been in the sooooo many times that and obd 1 computers are not as specific as obd 2 so if i replace the computer will it clear it?
