A new starter was installed but I still have a problem starting.

Hi folks, I have a 1996 aerostar,3.0,I had the starter replaced but within 5 days the van will not start It is making the sound of starting but will not go any further I was told the starter was not grounded the right way is this correct? I did replace the starter selonoid by the battery and still nothing any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
