So I walked outside today to see my son-in-law washing out the carpeting in his '97 Sport with the hose (carpeting still in the truck). When I asked him why he would do that, he said he got cut off several times driving to work the other day and spilled coffee all over the interior (he insists on using an large open coffee cup by the way).

I warned him that he couldn't do what he was doing without ending up with a huge mold problem, but I guess it's too late now. I made him vacuum out as much of the water as possible with my shop vac (about a gallon 1/2) and we stuck my huge shop fan blowing full blast into the open lift-gate. It's parked in the sun with the doors open now, but I'm not hopeful he's going to get it dried out by tomorrow. What a dumb-ass.

BTW, we have a Bissel shampoo machine he could have used. I guess it true, you just can't fix stupid.

After all these years your son in law really is learning impaired. He's an accident(s) waiting to happen. Feel bad for you.

Have your son in law get some resolve tough stain carpet cleaner.it will help stop the mold.it also protects the carpet from many stains.I used to be a detailer.also Remove the metal strip that you look at when you open the door and lift up the carpet and use the wand to suck up the excess water from the carpet padding.

I'm done trying to help. He's paid me back for the cost of the truck. It's his problem now.

Koda with the level of expertise you have why didn't he just ask how to do it first? SMH

Because he's a total dumb-ass. I can't trust him to take out the garbage correctly.

I trust that he is more attentive the to care of your daughter than the truck. At least, lets hope so.

(dead link)
Kills mold and leaves behind an inhibitor without the bleaching action of bleach or peroxide... but I'd still test it in an inconspicuous spot first.
