I had the door pannels off in my '97 and I was looking around at the actual frame. When I took the sticky foam stuff off I noticed that there is another hole for, I think, a 6x8 speaker in the rear doors. There isn't any kind of grill or anything so if you wanted to utalize them you would have to modify the door pannel, but I just thought that it was interesting to have another spot down there. Anyway, that's all I have to say for now.

Put one in it. Take pictures and show us. Be brave.

I noticed that too, looks like maybe another speaker hole, but youd have to cut your door panel!!!!

hmm maybe a 6x9 will fit?...............

Ok all you need to do is cut the panel so the speaker will not rub and use the mesh cover that came with the speaker. If its done right it should look pretty clean. And do you think an 6x9 will fit?.

it is there for the Eddie Bauer stereo system

nevermind, i noticed that you said down there, i have noticed that too, i thought that the XLT speakers were down there

no, the xlt speakers are up by the arm rest. I'm thinking it would be pretty easy to fix up the panel for a grill right there. I was thinking now I could put components in the kick panels up front without having to take out my door speakers. Then I could put another pair in the back to keep the volumes about the same. It would be cool to have an 8 speaker system plus subs. Anyway, I haven't even put subs in the back of mine yet, so it may be a while before I get to four more door speakers.
