From what I've read on this website and others, when you adjust the tranny bands on a Ford, you're supposed to throw the old lock nuts away and use new ones. The parts guy at the Ford dealership had no idea what I was asking about. We did find the part on an exploded diagram (388307-S100) and his part number XW4Z 71000 AA : NUT _ SEALING - $3.87 each. There were none to be found at any dealership here in the state capitol, the closest ones were 100 miles away. They came in yesterday and the parts guy showed them to the transmission guy... same response "never seen them, what are they for." The half joking reply was: built Ford tough, they don't need adjusting. Anyway, I've sunk $8.00 into this project so far, now I need to find a decent torque wrench. The one at Harbor Freight didn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling plus it wasn't a clicker. 1993 4X4
