Hello,
I have a 1991 Ex 2wd with either 130k or 230k. I'll never know with a 5 digit speedo. Anyway, I have read about the band adjustment procedure and have performed it on mine with positive results. I have a question though. What are the postive and negative results of getting plus or minus a half turn off of the exact turn count for the band adjustments?

A band that is too tight will create extra friction, heat, premature band failure, and erratic shifting since it's partially locking the drums. A loose band will not engage when it is supposed to. It will either not engage fully or not at all. There is also a chance that the holding struts might pop out, and fall into the pan.

Thank you for the reply. Inquiring minds need to know :-) I was counting the turns and just wondered how close the count had to be. I did it a couple of times after I marked the adjustment so I could count somewhat more accurately. I still thought it may have moved while tightening the locking nut. It shifts better, but I noticed the overdrive engages at about 50-53 instead of the old 45-48 shift point. Do I need to go back and readjust?
