A4LD No Forward/Reverse after Valve Body Rebuild

t00k it to a transmission specialist today. They futzed with some things for a few minutes and asked me again "no third? or reverse" I said yes. He went and asked one of his people who was familiar with the A4ld and the second tech basically said without hesitation "third and reverse are part of the same clutch pack, which is probable either worn, or the band is worn or broken."

Can someone else confirm before I tear in to this puppy for no reason?
