Hello, my name is Gabriel and I'm working on a friends 91 explorer XLT and some how found my self rebuilding the transmission.

After rebuilding and putting trans. back in truck, I still have the same problem, no forward, reverse is ok........

Is there anything I can check before removing trans. again?

Yes I did rebuild the valve body, I also removed it this morning to see if there was any valves that where sticking......

As far as I can tell every thing looked ok, but what do I know.

Also I wanted to thank "Glacier991" for all the info. and pics. in his rebuild journal and diary, I would have been lost without it... Good job

Another thing that I noticed was that the wire that supplies +12v to the 2 solenoids is always hot even when the ignition is off.

I looked at the schematics for that explorer and as far as I can tell the +12v comes from a relay that is controlled with ign. switch.....

Does anyone know if a no forward condition can occur if one or both of the solenoids are not working correctly?

Thanks for the info. BrooklynBay, I guess I am going to try and hook up a pressure gauge and see if that tells me anything. Also while in reverse I was able to switch to 4X and put it in Low, now its stuck and can't get it out of Low or 4X.....................

I am going to go and mess with it right now and see what I can come up with, hopefully I won't have to pull trans. out again!
