Hi folks!
I have a 1994 with an A4LD, it was sucking tranny fluid big time, so I replaced the modulator with one from the Zone. Cross checked the part # and it is the same as a 1988 Bronco II and a 1988 Aerostar, at least Zone says so. My son works for Advance and they don't list a mod for a 1994 Explorer. The replacement was real easy from the access panel. Anyways, here my issue. The tranny doesnt want to shift from 1st to 2nd without releasing the accelerator. Same 2nd to 3rd. Up on the highway goes into and out of OD fine. Should I first try a band adjust? Then a servo.? if I do a servo can it be done from the access panel and whats involved, never saw one before.

Whatever I do there will be pics.

Thanks

Welcome to this forum! Check the spool in front of the modulator where the pin presses up against. It might be sticking. I hope you didn't lose the pin while installing it. Did you get the adjustable modulator or the regular one?

The modulator looks to be adjustable however the set screw looked to have threadlock on it, so I thought maybe it was preset. as far as the pin goes, nope, didn't lose that, Accessing it from the top made that real easy. Treated that badboy like it was one of my beers. I didn't check to see the spool was free or not. What's the best way to check it? With the modulator out can I just push on it with a small rod?

Thanks some more!
