Can you use an AAL on the sports monoleaf? i would assume not but hey ya never know. And if i can where would i be able to purchase an AAL kit? If this isnt feasible how about shackles with the monoleaf. Will it work well enough just for very light off roading?

I don't think you can use the add-a-leaf on the mono-pack. I believe others have swapped out the mono-pack and put in the 4 door spring pack and then use the add-a-leaf.
I think you can use shackles though, but hopefully someone else can confirm that.
I got my add-a-leaf kit from www.summitracing.com .
And, a stock explorer will do just fine for very light offroading.
The only real need to lift/add-a-leaf or shackles is to get bigger tires in there!

Definetly upgrade to the Multi leaf. You can run shackles on the mono but not AAL.

I was looking to do the same on my 97 sport. Where can i get a multi-leaf other the a junkyard or is that the best place? then after that would i still need to a an AAL and shackles in the front for a 2" lift and TT in the front? Or with the multi-leaf and the shackles the front will be good enough to match the TT?

A junkyard will be the cheapest place but you can still buy them from Ford. When I checked (last winter), they were $360 for leaf packs for my '96 four door, which should work on your '97. If you want, you can have a set of leaf packs made that have the 2" (or whatever amount you want) lift built in. Eaton Detroit Spring, Dever and OME make these. They're not cheap (I think the Eaton lift packs were $420 + shipping from Detroit).

If you go with stock units, either from a junkyard or from Ford, you'll need an AAL or shackles to get 2" or so of lift. You could also check out the F150 leaf swap mod (at the top of this Forum) which will get you lift without AALs or shackles. But, it depends on the F150 leaves you find as to how much lift you'll get.

Hope this helps - Dave.

I would say with the sport and depending on how much it brings the rear up, that you wouldn't need the AAL. It all depends on how much the packs you get are sagged. I got mine out of a first gen so they've already seen quite a few miles. But then leveled out the rear.

hmm alright....ill try to find a junkyard around here. I dont know of any but ill look.

I went to a junk yard here (Atlanta, Ga area) Sat. and they wanted $50 per side removed! They had a 96 V-8 so as soon as I can come up with the $ I'm getten them...mono leafs SUCK!
