What I'm looking at buying this weekend is an MTX 4250D amp, 2 10" subs, 4 gauge wiring and sealed sub box. I'm trying to put together something for sound quality over volume, before I do this I got a few questions;

1. Help me decide on subs - either MTX 10" 6000 or Rockford 3410, I've listened to both in store and can't hear much of a difference. They are both about the same price and similar specs, I'm heading towards the Fosgate because I like the look better. :D

2. I've found a nice sealed box with a plexiglass window, 1" MDF and the airspace is within the specs for either sub, problem is the box is one chamber instead of one for each sub and I remember an old post that this is bad, is it harmful for the subs, reduce sound quality or just not ideal to have them sharing airspace.

As far as the subs go, I prefer MTX because they're pretty durable. (mine have been around for what seems like forever and still pound). When it comes to the box, have my 10s in a bandpass, with one chamber and two subs, andi can't tell a major difference. The good thing about those boxes is that they bump hard in your car, but the really don't bug the crap out of the neighbors at 2 AM.

The only bad thing about a one chamber box with two subs in it is that they share the volume of enclosed air. Normally this is no problem, when both subs are running the same they each get half of the air and everything's all fine and dandy. The potential problems come when one of the subs (for some reason or another) stops performing as well as the other or stops working completely. Then one of the subs is utilizing more than its fair share of air, which can ruin the sub's suspension and basically destroy it.

Get the tightest subs you can for SQ, tight being low responce time, IE. boom---boom, not bbbbooooommmm--bbbbbooooooommmmm, maybe someone else can explain it better (I suck at that kinda stuff). Also get the most efficent (sp?) sub with a signal-to-noise of at least 80db and go with 2ohm vs 4 ohm.

Hope this helps.
