ABS/Brake lights On URGENT!!!

S

shaggsta

Hello,
For a week now, I have had the brake and RABS lights on intermittantly. Over the last 3 days, it has been on constantly. I had a code pulled and it was a code 4 - ABS Module or Dump valve. Does anyone know where these may be located and if I can bypass the ABS system or should I relpace them. As well if bypass is recomended, how is that done.

Thanks very much, and it's a 92 XLT.

I don't know about a EX but my ABS light was on for 4 years on my last car. Altho the ABS did NOT work for 4 years it just reverts back to regular brakes! But its always best to get things taken care of when they go haywire. In my state the ABS does NOT have to be working to pass the state inspection.
BTW: Your X has ONLY rear ABS like mine. In 1993 they came out with 4 wheel ABS and it works in 2WD AND 4WD. And your REAR ABS does NOT work in 4 wheel drive. It ONLY works in 2 WD.

Not an emergency. Moving to the correct forum.

You did check your brake fluid, correct?

Just to clarify

a few things, it is both the Brake light and Rear ABS lights that are on, so I have not been driving it. They came on together.

Fluid is fine.

I did buy an ABS module at a scrap yard today, but am a little unsure of where it goes in the dash. If anyone can point this out, it would be great.

I replaced my ABS module a couple of months ago. Mine is a '94 and is located close to the drivers side head lights. Hope this helps.
