ABS code reader

Hi all, I am new and enjoying this site.
Does the ABS system on a 98 Mountaineer 5.0 require a different code reader than the rest of the vehicle? If so, could someone direct me to a site that will tell me how to read the codes with a volt/ohm meter.
My ABS light stays on constantly.

yes it requires different tester and no it can't be done with voltmeter

I guess I will have to start with the process of elimation or cough up $75.00 to have an independent shop put their tester on it.
