My ABS light has been on for a long time. I pulled the codes by turning the key on, and watching the flashes. I pulled code 75 and 31. Does anyone know what they mean? I don't have the money to take it to the dealer just yet with the holidays coming up. Please help!

Which system do you have - RABS or 4WABS? Which light are you watching and what method for retrieving the DTCs are you using?

I am honestly not sure how to tell. I have sensors on all 4 wheels. I think it is 4WABS. The ABS light is not in the dash cluster, it is right below it, I think next to the 4 wheel drive light. I turn the key forward, and it flashes. So I counted the flashes. The ABS light has been on since I bought the truck. The other day it went out for awhile, and I got massive brake pedal pressure and a weird noise. It hasn't done it since. The light is still glowing though.

OK.... that'll be 4WABS for sure. I don't think your flashing light will indicate too much. The codes for 4WABS requires a code reader and the DTC will be alpha/numeric - usually C####.

The wierd noise you experienced would likely be the pump pressuring the accumulator. I'm going to suggest inspecting the harnesses to the wheels (all four)- often the wire will break or the connectors can corrode. If the tone rings (the little toothy wheel thingies to put it in technical terms) are visible, inspect them for cracks and accumulated debris.

If that doesn't do the trick, maybe see if you can at least get the code (IIRC, it only stores one code at a time for ABS) and that'll be a starting point.

Sorry, I can't remember the sequence for clearing codes but I imagine the old "take off BOTH battery cables and touch them together" routine would work.

I had the codes pulled on mine last year. I got back ECU (electronic control unic) and HCU. ECU is fried and HCU is on its way out. Just another problem not to fix. As long as this thing stops its fine by me.
