I have a 94 X that the ABS brakes come on at low speeds (5MPH to stop). To get around this problem I pulled the fuse under the hood. Now the abs light on the dash comes on every time I start the engine and now the brakes seem to lock-up easy. I just got the X 2 months ago and I think the front brake pads were changed. If any one can help it would be graet I plan on fixing the problem over the weekand.

Thanks
Scott

my moms did that and it was her ABS sensors (dont remember what ones) Mine is doing the same thing now but its horrible, slmoast hit a the next door building when i was parking at work lol. but if the ABS is coming on when u go to stop thats most likely it, mine happen to be the front ones that need replaced, 20bucks a peice roughly in price, sometimes they just get dirty and only need cleaned, all tho any shop will say they are bad b/c they wanna sell u a new part, id look at that anyway

Yes my 93 explorer does the same thing you will be going and hit the brakes and you can hear/feel it turn on. Asked my brother(an ex Ford Mechantic) and he said that is probally what it is. So I would look into that.

is there anyway to tell waht one it is? should one just reaplce them all. ford told me that i need front abs sensors, so i take it i need both front ones, i belive my mom only reaplced one, anyway to tell waht one is bad?

jack up the vehicle and put a scope on each sensor and spin the wheel, if one looks different than the others theres your problem.

my 99 is doing the same thing...pulled the fuse and it doesn't happen...of course I don't have abs then..how do you clean the sensors ?
