ABS light always on and 4x4 help

the abs light is always on and the 4x4 light goes on and off and it goes in and out of 4 wheel drive all by its self its an 04 xls

you have a problem with one of the ABS sensors. . .what year?
For an '04 If the ABS light comes on after say, 10-30minutes its most likely the Master Cyl switch. If its been on for a while and is always on the Rear ABS sensor on the Diff, is the second most likely one. r one of the front ABS sensors or the wheel bearings are shot.

If you can find someone to pull ABS codes, Auto parts stores don't usually, it will tell you which one is out.

so take it and get it fixed? its an 04. anything on the four wheel drive??

you really need a code reader that supports ABS codes to tell if its failed and tell what going on. it will provide a code that tells you whats wrong.

You can maybe try an ohm meter to test the sensor you might see an 'open', but thats not 100%.

ABS is tricking the system into thinking a wheel is spinning so the 4x4 will turn on.
