The ABS and Trac-control light came on. I was told it was the right rear wheel sensor. I purchase a new wheel speed sensor and replace it. Start the truck up, the ABS light is still lite up, but Trac is off. I figured I just needed to drive it and it would reset itself, wrong. I go pull out the drive way and it locks up. I get out, crawl underneath the back again and check for a tight connection. Get back in, same thing. I unplug it, ABS and Trac light back on, but I can move, no lock up.

So, after doing some research on the code I was given, it says CIRCUIT, might be opened or shorted. They guy never told me circuit, he just said wheel sensor. The harness side connection seems like it was pulled and I'm thinking the wires in the connection are broken. I can purchase a pigtail and replace the connection.

But will that fix the problem or am I missing something?

You need to check to whole harness side wires thru engine bay to the PCM including underchassis connectors especially near corners and hot-temp places.

that is not what I wanted to hear. tracing wires is never fun

Thats right

But thats the only way to determine shortcuts in bad factory routed ford cars old harnesses.

So, I been thinking about this more. When the old wheel sensor was installed and plugged in, the truck moved, but with the ABS and Trac lights on. But with the new one installed, it shuts off the Trac light, ABS stays on, and the truck wont move. I have to unplug it for it to move. IF the harness side was bad, wouldn't I get the same result with either wheel sensor, old or new?

No idea.sorry

Maybe RSc algorithm related issue..
Havent you used factory workshop manual ABS pinpoint check test or abs module reset after Abs sensor replaced?
